Novated lease tax benefits on a Smart™ lease are a combination of savings, including:
- GST savings on the car price
- Pre‑tax salary deductions (reducing taxable income)
- GST savings on running costs
- FBT and ECM balancing or exemptions
Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) is a tax employers pay on certain benefits, including novated leases. In most cases the cost of FBT is offset through your lease using post‑tax contributions (ECM). Eligible electric cars are exempt from FBT, making them even more cost‑effective.
The process starts with getting a personalised novated lease quote for a BMW X2 or other cars, including accessories, running costs and different lease terms. Once you’re happy with the package, it’s time to apply for finance.

Your personal circumstances have not been factored into this estimate and your actual novated lease repayment residual amounts and tax savings will depend on your income tax bracket, your employer's GST processing method, the administration fees payable under your employer's salary packaging plan and your personal circumstances.
