The BYD Dolphin is an all-electric hatchback designed for city driving, available in Essential and Premium variants. It combines a BYD Blade Battery, a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, V2L technology and a safety suite that includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and 360-degree cameras, giving commuters and small households a nimble, easy-to-park electric small car.
Performance
The Dolphin Premium produces 150kW through its front wheels, reaching 100km/h in 7.0 seconds with a 427km WLTP range, while the Essential delivers 70kW for a 12.3-second sprint. On the Premium, DC fast charging at up to 80kW can lift the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in around 29 minutes. An ocean-inspired body shape is designed to reduce drag and increase battery efficiency.
Practicality
Compact and nimble, the Dolphin is a hatchback that suits city streets and tight parking, yet seats five and offers a 345-litre boot that expands to 1,310 litres with the 60/40 split rear seats folded. Vehicle-to-Load technology delivers up to 3.3kW, turning the car into a mobile power station for camping, picnics or small appliances, and ISOFIX anchor points support child seats.

Standard safety technology includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping support, automatic emergency braking, front and rear cross-traffic alert with braking, blind spot detection and 360-degree cameras. Both variants have a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, while Premium adds a panoramic glass roof, rain-sensing wipers, wireless phone charging, synthetic leather-wrapped seats, a six-way power driver's seat and heated front seats.

Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) is a tax employers pay on certain benefits, including novated leases. In most cases the cost of FBT is offset through your lease using post‑tax contributions (ECM). Eligible electric cars are exempt from FBT, making them even more cost‑effective.
