Frequently asked questions
Prices shown are based on standard assumptions. Your actual novated lease price will depend on your employer, salary, and personal circumstances. To get an accurate, personalised price, create an account. You’ll be able to see your estimated savings and compare your novated lease options before continuing.
This page defaults to a Genesis GV80 2.5T AWD, but all variants are available in our Novated Leasing Hub. Register for an account to get prices, choose variants, compare them and customise your novated lease quote.
Novated lease tax benefits on a Smart™ lease are a combination of savings, including:
- GST savings on the car price
- Pre‑tax salary deductions (reducing taxable income)
- GST savings on running costs
- FBT and ECM balancing or exemptions
Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) is a tax employers pay on certain benefits, including novated leases. In most cases the cost of FBT is offset through your lease using post‑tax contributions (ECM). Eligible electric cars are exempt from FBT, making them even more cost‑effective.
The process starts with getting a personalised novated lease quote for a Genesis GV80 or other cars, including accessories, running costs and different lease terms. Once you’re happy with the package, it’s time to apply for finance.
Step 1. Get your price
Log in to get a quote on a car you personalise and build.
Step 2. Maximise your tax savings
Add running costs like fuel, tyres and maintenance to your novated lease. You can also explore other cars and compare your quotes.
Step 3. Apply for finance
You’ll then apply for finance online, with a typical turnaround of around 24 hours (subject to credit approval).
Step 4. Source car
After signing your contract, we’ll source your car at a great price through our 740‑strong dealer network, and set up your payroll deductions.
Step 5. Settlement
After delivery, Smart manages all payments and running‑cost budgets for you.
At the end of your term, you can choose to:
- Pay the residual value owed and own the car.
- Refinance the residual and keep leasing.
- Upgrade to a new car.
Smart can also help sell your car through Smart Sell™.
*Required information. By registering, I agree to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of my personal information in accordance with the Smart Privacy Policy and Privacy Collection Statement.
^ Pricing and savings figures are based on the following assumptions:
- 1. Residency in NSW 2000
- 2. Annual gross salary of $120,000
- 3. Annual travel distance of 15,000 km
- 4. A 5-year lease/loan term
- 5. Salary packaging via the Employee Contribution Method (ECM) and the FBT Exempt Method applicable to eligible electric vehicles under the Electric Car Discount
All quoted figures include estimated budgets for finance, charging and/or fuel, servicing, tyres, maintenance, Vero by Suncorp comprehensive motor insurance, and registration renewals over the lease or loan term. A residual payment, as determined by the Australian Taxation Office, is payable at the end of a novated lease. The specific residual amount will be detailed in your personalised vehicle quote. Your personal circumstances have not been factored into this estimate and your actual novated lease repayment residual amounts and tax savings will depend on your income tax bracket, your employer's GST processing method, the administration fees payable under your employer's salary packaging plan and your personal circumstances. Figures are accurate as of June 2026 and are subject to change without notice.
