Get started with a few detailsHyundai Kona overview
The Hyundai Kona is a small SUV available in Australia with petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains, all front-wheel drive. A 4,350mm body, dual 12.3-inch wide displays, Smart Cruise Control on all variants and Hyundai SmartSense safety technology make it a flexible option for city commuters, small families and drivers comparing petrol, hybrid and electric small SUVs.
Performance
Hyundai offers the Kona with a 110kW/180Nm petrol engine at 6.6L/100km, a 146kW/265Nm petrol option at 6.2L/100km, a 104kW/265Nm Hybrid rated at 3.9L/100km, and the Kona Electric with 146kW and 265Nm. The Electric lists a WLTP range of 370km to 505km depending on variant, with DC fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in about 45 minutes. Hybrid models self-charge using Smart Regenerative Braking.
Practicality
The Kona provides 407 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,241 litres (VDA) with the rear seats folded, and a spare tyre is stowed under the cargo floor. Rear passengers get heating and cooling vents, a fold-down armrest with cupholders and two USB-C ports. Hyundai lists a towing capacity of up to 1,300kg when the genuine accessory is fitted, and the compact footprint suits city streets and tight car parks.
Features
Dual 12.3-inch displays integrate navigation and infotainment, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available across the line-up. SmartSense technology includes forward collision-avoidance with junction turning, lane following assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance and an extra front centre airbag. Premium variants add a smart power tailgate, ambient lighting, wide sunroof, surround view monitor and blind-spot view monitor.

Frequently asked questions
Prices shown are based on standard assumptions. Your actual novated lease price will depend on your employer, salary, and personal circumstances. To get an accurate, personalised price, create an account. You’ll be able to see your estimated savings and compare your novated lease options before continuing.
This page defaults to a Hyundai Kona 2WD, but all variants are available in our Novated Leasing Hub. Register for an account to get prices, choose variants, compare them and customise your novated lease quote.
Novated lease tax benefits on a Smart™ lease are a combination of savings, including:
- GST savings on the car price
- Pre‑tax salary deductions (reducing taxable income)
- GST savings on running costs
- FBT and ECM balancing or exemptions
Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) is a tax employers pay on certain benefits, including novated leases. In most cases the cost of FBT is offset through your lease using post‑tax contributions (ECM). Eligible electric cars are exempt from FBT, making them even more cost‑effective.
The process starts with getting a personalised novated lease quote for a Hyundai Kona or other cars, including accessories, running costs and different lease terms. Once you’re happy with the package, it’s time to apply for finance.
Step 1. Get your price
Log in to get a quote on a car you personalise and build.
Step 2. Maximise your tax savings
Add running costs like fuel, tyres and maintenance to your novated lease. You can also explore other cars and compare your quotes.
Step 3. Apply for finance
You’ll then apply for finance online, with a typical turnaround of around 24 hours (subject to credit approval).
Step 4. Source car
After signing your contract, we’ll source your car at a great price through our 740‑strong dealer network, and set up your payroll deductions.
Step 5. Settlement
After delivery, Smart manages all payments and running‑cost budgets for you.
At the end of your term, you can choose to:
- Pay the residual value owed and own the car.
- Refinance the residual and keep leasing.
- Upgrade to a new car.
Smart can also help sell your car through Smart Sell™.
