The Tucson Hybrid pairs a 1.6L T-GDi engine with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic for 172kW and 367Nm, with a combined fuel consumption of 5.3L/100km. The turbo petrol delivers 132kW and 265Nm. The hybrid self-charges using Smart Regenerative Braking, while the e-Motion Drive system uses the motor to smooth vibrations and improve traction, and Baby Mode softens acceleration for a gentler ride.
Practicality
The Tucson seats five and offers a roomy cargo area of 582 litres in hybrid form, expanding to 1,903 litres with the rear seats folded, according to Carsales. Hyundai lists braked towing of up to 1,900kg on the Hybrid, or 1,650kg on petrol models, with 750kg unbraked, which suits boats and camper trailers. Premium variants add heated rear seats, and Shift-By-Wire frees up centre console storage.
